A world where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential—a world where adults with developmental disabilities are respected, empowered, and integrated fully into society.
To enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by providing compassionate care and creating a supportive environment for their families and our employees. We strive to ensure that every individual can lead a life of dignity, purpose, and fulfillment.
Sisterly was founded on the deep, personal bond between sisters Heather Schaefer and Stephanie Kelso, both raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. United by a shared passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, their journey blends professional expertise with personal life experiences that have shaped their vision for the future.
Heather began her work in developmental disabilities in 2004, accumulating over two decades of experience across four different agencies within Hamilton County. Her hands-on approach and unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of those in need of specialized care have established her as a trusted leader in the field. Beyond her career, Heather is a devoted wife and mother to two sons who inspire her daily. Her youngest son has been diagnosed with autism, further fueling her dedication to creating a world where children like him can thrive.
Stephanie’s career path led her through the corporate insurance sector, where she spent 13 years building a strong foundation in business management and strategic operations. She earned a degree in Business Management and Ethics from Cincinnati Christian University in 2010. After the birth of her son in 2017—who was later diagnosed with autism—Stephanie experienced a profound shift in her life’s purpose. Choosing to leave the corporate world behind, she joined forces with Heather to turn their shared vision into reality.
At the heart of Sisterly is their commitment to ensuring that their children, and all individuals with developmental disabilities, can thrive in a world that recognizes their potential. For Heather and Stephanie, this mission is deeply personal. They understand firsthand the challenges families face, and they’ve built Sisterly to be a beacon of support, care, and hope.
